Election years always bring out the peaceful side of Ghanaians who do not want to see the country go the route of other African countries which have been destroyed by election related violence. Often, celebrities and renowned or leading figures in the country take the lead in peace messages, and this year, they've already started as we gear up for the campaign season.

The latest to add her voice to the calls for peaceful elections is Afropop artiste, Yaa Yaa. Speaking to Showbiz, Yaa Yaa advised Ghanaians not to be deceived by unscrupulous politicians. "Ghanaians should vote wisely and we should not allow any political party or their representative to spark violence in this country. We should be wise in our actions and speech so as not to incite violence. We love our country, and peaceful elections are the key to maintaining the unity of the country,” she said. Yaa Yaa, one of the strongest female voices on the music circuit, disclosed that she has been working very hard and will soon release her new album titled Agoo.

"Besides the album, my new single, Dumb Drum is already out and enjoying airplay.” She said Dumb Drum is a song she wrote with the youth in mind and added that it contains inspirational messages meant to speak to the hearts and minds of young people.

Yaa Yaa formerly Bertha, also expressed excitement that Dumb Drum had received nominations in three categories for this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA), namely Best Female Artiste, Record of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year. "It’s a motivation to push harder,” the former Stars of the Future winner told Showbiz. On what's in store for her this year, Yaa Yaa revealed she would be performing at a number of events with the first one slated for April 16.

"I will be the opening act for a musician at the Alliance Francaise in Accra, so all music lovers should make it a point to be there,” Yaa Yaa concluded.
